This would be a personal decision, but if it were noticed-who cares? COMMENT: In every era women have gone through lots of pain to look good. Some women had their lower ribs removed and wore tight corsets that caused medical problems just to have a little waist. I have a small child, and I didn't want others to assume that I had implants for "professional" reasons. I didn't want my child to be embarrassed later on when she goes to school. I just wanted to look better for myself and my husband. As for close family and friends, they have all been very supportive. COMMENT: I do believe that society/media puts a lot of pressure on women to look good, but I also believe that women put it on themselves as well. I've noticed that a lot of women spend so much time on their looks that they exclude every other part of their lives. Spending time on our looks should give us the confidence to go out and get what we want from life. We can't over obsess and miss out on life. Add: I'd like to know what women think about how having implants will change their life. I am a big girl, not real heavy just tall and big boned and I think I would look great with a big chest! I am in great health,I don't drink or smoke cigarettes any more and I want to do this for myself. I hope maybe it will help my self esteem a little, so I will hold my shoulders back and look good in clothes. I remember when I was younger I used to stuff a bra and put my sisters clothes on and strut in front of the mirror. I liked that feeling! Also the look was great I finally felt that was the way I should look. I am looking forward to having the surgery in April so I will be finding as much information as I can and looking for the right Surgeon. It has really taken it's toll on my breasts. After breast feeding I went from an average C cup to an A cup. This was a shock to me. Now after 9 years they are somewhat deflated in shape and size. There is now a procedure to correct this problem. And why not do it. We get braces to correct our teeth or a pacemaker/ to keep our heart pumping. Breast implants are made of the same materials as pacemaker/s, knee replacements, shunts etc... No one has taken them off the market. The only reason that augmentation is getting a bad rap is because of the moral issues involved. My husband seems to think that they (my breasts) are just fine the way they are but, I don't and he respects that. He has remained unbias though my entire decision about the augmentation. I feel that it is a decision that women have to make alone without the influence of others. Vanity is not a dirty word. It is what we project upon ourselves. We are our worst critics when it comes to appearences. Or they way we preceive ourselves to look.
