Our Plastic Surgeons:

Because we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients; we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in plastic surgery.

There are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact, our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our referral directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in order to remain in our surgeon directory.

About Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not true plastic surgeons and are not qualified or experienced in plastic surgery. To be sure you are seeing a "true" plastic surgeon for any body plastic surgery, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast enhancement implant augmentation choose an American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeon.

"Great Doctor and Great staff had No problems. He did everything I wanted and more couldnt be happier. I now have great looking boobs thanks to him!" ~Email this breast augmentation patientApril (Plastic Surgery Patient from Palm Springs, Ca)

"I saw four doctors before meeting Dr. Pousti, all of whom were referred to me by friends who already had breast augmentations. I got different opinions from all of them. I wanted to have large breasts, but did NOT want to have a breast lift due to the scarring. I had one doctor offer to go over the muscle with a silicone implant to avoid the lift stating I could always get the lift later if I wanted, another offered to move my nipple to make my breasts appear to be lifted, yet another said I just needed to go with a larger implant, and another said I would need a lift and showed me a few photos but didn't explain anything else. I was getting calls from some of these doctors stating they have an opening next week and can offer me a discount if I want to have surgery. By this time I was confused, what was the right answer?

Then I met Dr. Pousti, and I could tell right away that he was different. I trusted him and felt like was listening to me as an individual not just another nameless patient. His staff was excellent, and I was able to meet numerous clients and talk to them about their experience, no other doctor offered me that! Dr. Pousti explained to me that I needed the lift because without it I was just going to get large sagging breasts, more of what I already had. He assured me I would not be happy with the result and told me if I didn't have a lift he would not perform surgery on me. He also told me that if I went with the lift the scars would fade and my breasts would be everything I wanted them to be. Being still skeptical, I had two more consultations with Dr. Pousti before I scheduled surgery for the breast augmentation and lift. Dr. Pousti and his staff embraced each visit and wanted to be sure all of my questions were answered. After I scheduled surgery I had another 2 consultations before the big day. I told Dr. Pousti I wanted to go as large as I could go. He told me with the lift it is difficult to go large because the incisions could have a hard time healing. I told him I would do whatever made him comfortable so that he could go as large as possible. He told me he would do everything he could to safely make me happy.

I remember going under the morning of surgery and looking at Dr. Pousti. I was overwhelmed with comfort and knew that I was in good hands. I stayed at the Hideaway the first night after surgery and Dr. Pousti came by to make sure I was ok. I could not be happier with my results. Dr. Pousti was right, even right out of surgery, I only saw how great my breasts looked, the scarring didn't matter. He did a great job and gave me exactly what I asked for. I am between a full D and a double D and I love it!

Unfortunately for me, being a Type A+ personality I got back to work a little too quickly and 3 weeks after surgery I fell and injured my knee. The impact from the fall had also torn some of the stitches open under my right breast. At urgent care my knee was stitched up and I was told to go home and take some Motrin. Two days later I was in the emergency room with a nasty infection in the knee. I was then sent to an orthopedic specialist who was supposed to open up the knee to get rid of the infection. Unfortunately, as often happens in healthcare, this doctor was pretty busy so he put me on antibiotics and wanted me to wait another week before doing surgery! I had a fever, the chills, and a lot of physical pain. I was continuing to have Dr. Pousti monitor my breasts and came to his office in complete despair. I was crying and I didn't know what to do. Dr. Pousti told me he was concerned about me and that he couldn't leave me like this. He said we needed to open up!my knee and get rid of the infection. He offered to do it right then and there or he would rearrange his surgery schedule for the next day and do it in the operating room. Because of the immense trust I have in Dr. Pousti I went back into the operating room with him the next day. He even called me at 6 am that morning to be sure I was comfortable with my decision. It turned out that I not only had a nasty infection called MRSA (an antibiotic resistant strain of bacteria) but also a torn ligament in my knee. Dr. Pousti washed my knee out, repaired the torn ligament, checked my implant to be sure it hadn't ruptured, and re-stitched by breast to help healing and reduce scarring. Dr. Pousti did not charge me for his time. He then did all of my follow up care, also for free. This included monitoring my breasts, infection and medication, and my knee recovery. He saw me twice a week for several weeks and I did not need to see another doctor. Dr. Pousti also called me on a regular basis just to see how I was doing. He went above and beyond anything I have experienced in today's medical field. This is because he cares about his patients and so does his staff. In the few months during this ordeal, I have come to think of Dr. Pousti and his staff like family.

Not only is Dr. Pousti a great surgeon, but he is a kind and compassionate man who obviously loves what he does. I would trust him to work on my mother or my children. You don't find doctors like this in today's fast paced World, and I am so grateful for everything Dr. Pousti and his staff have done for me!" ~Lenore (Breast Augmentation Patient from Temecula, CA)

"Since the first day that I walked through your front doors for my consultation, I felt right at home. Although I was extremely nervous and anxious to meet the Dr., I was welcomed and treated so well. As I waited for the Dr. to come in, I could not even imagine what my body was going to look like after having this surgery.

My stats before surgery were:
Age: 20
Height: 5 6
Weight Before: 128
Cup size before: 36AAA

After surgery:
Weight After: 130
Cup size after: 36C
CC amount in both breasts: 390cc s
Incisions: areola incision site used
I met with Dr. P and I was not afraid to ask him questions like I thought I would be. He explained everything to me, examined my oh-so embarrassing small breasts and said that my results would look great. The one question that caught me off guard was: Why do you want to have this procedure? Not many Plastic Surgeons would ask such a question. Well he did and I gave him the truth. I had always wanted breasts since I found out that women naturally grow them as a part of growing up. From the 5th grade until high school, I waited for my breasts to grow, but they never did. I think I actually had bigger breasts when I was a chubby little girl than when I was 18 years old and through growing. I always felt like a tomboy because my naked chest looked just like a boys. I would stare at myself in the mirror for hours wondering why they never grew for me, but the rest of my family had big beautiful breasts. I was so insecure when I had to change in front of anyone and I was constantly buying clothes and bras that would make me look like I had something there. I remember praying for breasts, not even big ones, I would settle for a B-cup, but they still never grew. I knew I had to do something for myself but I wasn't quite sure just what.

I started to think about having the procedure when I was 16 years old and saw some show on a medical channel where the Drs. were performing a Breast Augmentation. It was then that I decided to look into the procedure and see if it was something I was really willing to put myself through. The price, at that age, scared me. No way would I ever be able to afford something like that. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking about the procedure and looking up various Drs. in my area. It wasn't until I graduated from high school and got through my first year at college that I decided to bring the topic up with my boyfriend. After some research and conversation, we decided to save up for my procedure and meet with some plastic surgeons.

Dr. Pousti was the first doctor on my list and he essentially became the last one I would ever see. I made appointments with other plastic surgeons but canceled them as soon as I met with Dr. Pousti. I knew right away, that he was going to be the Dr. for me. His great bedside manner and fun personality was unlike anything I had ever seen when comparing him to other doctors I had met with my whole life. He made me feel so comfortable that I knew my life and body would be safe in his hands. So, in the next week or two, we put down the deposit and waited for the surgery date that was scheduled on June 19th, 2006. The days just could not go by fast enough. As soon as my pre-op date arrived I was extremely nervous and anxious about the surgery. We took pictures, filled my prescriptions and prepared everything I thought I would need for after the surgery. A few tips: draw string pants are a MUST, easy to remove tops, tons of pillows and you'll probably need a laxative because of all those pain meds. Also, keep a box of tissues near by, you never know when you'll get the urge to cry. You re emotions will go crazy.

Morning of surgery arrived and I didn't sleep a wink the night before. We arrived and waited for a while. I filled out all of my paperwork and before I knew it, they had me changed into some oh-so fashionable robe and slippers and hooked up to an IV. I sat and talked with my boyfriend and mother until Dr. Pousti came in, did a bunch of markings on me and said they would be ready for me shortly. A nurse came in and led me to the surgery room where I laid down on the table and can't remember a thing after that. Before I knew it, I was waking up in the recovery room with a new set of breasts. I wanted so badly just to sleep some more, but I was also anxious to get home. The ride home is a blur as is the rest of that evening. I slept mostly and woke up long enough to take medication and go to the bathroom. Let me tell you about pain. The first day was not that bad, it was manageable and the pain meds kept most of the pain at bay. However, the second day was the worst for me. I felt like the pain meds were not working anymore and the pain was so severe that it hurt to stand and even go to the bathroom. I had to go see Dr. Pousti that day as well, which was very difficult and I must have looked really bad because the nurses took me into one of the rooms and 10 minutes later I was out the door and on my way back home. The third day, the pain got to be a little more manageable. By day four, I was back to my old self. The pain only felt like muscle soreness and I was up walking around as usual. I think I even went to see a movie that day, a comedy, which hurt to laugh, so I don't recommend anyone do that right after. I think the worst part of recovery is that darn strap. It pulls and pushes in ways that you don't want to be pushed and pulled. It made me very itchy and irritated on a daily basis and I was so glad to get rid of it after a month. Since then, I've been wearing soft bras at night for support and under wire bras in the day with no irritation. I am very happy with my results. The first month of two, I could not pass a mirror in my home without sneaking a peak at them and thinking, wow! I've taken my own set of pictures to follow my results and see all of the changes that they have gone through since day one. I definitely recommend to anyone that they do the same. To this day, no one has made the comment that my breasts look fake and most that do know about my surgery say that my breasts look very natural and fit my frame very well. I couldn't agree more. I love my new breasts and am so glad that I decided to go through with the surgery. It was worth all the worries, money, and pain.

I would recommend Dr. Pousti to anyone. In fact, I've sent him several patients that I know. He did a great job and made me feel so comfortable with him. His work is excellent and if I had the choice to do this surgery over again, I would do it again in a heartbeat." ~Nicole (Breast Augmentation Patient from Riverside, CA)

"Hi, my name is JD, I'm a 37 yr old mother of 2. I had breast augmentation 1.5 yrs ago and I'm very pleased with my results. Dr Pousti and his staff are the best. They are very caring, supportive and genuine. As an RN, I've seen the work of many surgeons and in my opinion Dr Pousti's work is outstanding. After our initial research, Dr Pousti was the only consult my husband and I had, we were both very comfortable with him. Dr Pousti is very honest and sincere in his approach to plastic surgery. "I had a tummy tuck, breast lift and augmentation done in mid April. I have been a yo-yo dieter all of my adult life. Because of my weight loss, weight gain, weight loss and weight gain (well you get the picture) my body was a wreck! My breasts were VERY droopy and I had lost ALL of my volume. I was a very saggy D. My tummy had the famous pooch that no exercise could get rid of. I dreamed about having a tummy tuck for about 10 years. Over the past few years I knew my breasts would need a little help too . Ok, a lot of help. This past year I started doing research on tummy tucks, breast lifts and breast augmentations. After I learned everything I needed to know about the procedures I started to look for a Doctor. That was the hardest part, until I met Dr. Pousti. I saw a total of five Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Pousti was the fifth and finally one I saw. After meeting with Dr. Pousti and his staff I knew he was going to be the one. He was so kind and very caring. I loved the fact he let you meet other patients that had the same surgeries I wanted. I asked them lots of questions, They all could not say enough about how great Dr. Pousti is and how HAPPY they are with there results. They all looked great! All the office girls were so friendly and always smiling. They made me feel very comfortable. I was so afraid I was going to feel out of place. I came home very excited and told my Husband I have found the one! My Husband was very supportive on the changes I wanted to make. I went back for a second consultation armed with a list of questions to ask Dr. Pousti which he answered. He NEVER made me feel rushed. I talked with more patients and again they all looked great. I booked my surgery that day. I had my surgery 10 weeks ago and I look and feel wonderful! I am so happy with my results. I love my flat tummy and perky breasts, and so does my Husband. I'm thrilled with the whole experience I had with Dr. Pousti and his staff. He truly is a gifted Surgeon and I would recommend him to everyone! His was the last office I visited because after having been to other offices, there wasn't a need to continue looking. I was very impressed by Dr. Pousti's practices. He sees you for the initial consultation, which isn't standard practice. He is honest and allows you to speak to other patients to ensure you are fully informed of what you can expect from your procedure. My breasts are now beautiful D's and I couldn't be more pleased with my results. They are very natural looking. I love my new figure and so does my husband! "It is thanks to my referral to Dr. Pousti that I made my decision to have BA surgery after years of saying I never would! Wanting to feel better about myself and be more shapely in my clothes, I decided to make the appointment for a consultation. In all my years of dealing with doctors (and, trust me, there have been a LOT of them), I have never met a more gentle-natured, kind, and caring man than Dr. Pousti. My husband and I were both very comfortable during our discussion and he addressed all of my concerns. The patients I spoke with who had been through surgery had varied stories but all were quick to say they would do it again without hesitation. His staff is wonderful as well as the surgery center staff. It was a great experience and I have a very natural-looking, proportioned figure now. Quite honestly, the last thing I thought I would ever do was voluntarily have surgery after ten surgeries trying to have children! Well, three beautiful, adopted children later, I made the decision to do something positive for myself and I couldn't be more pleased! I encourage you to do the same!" ~Cindy (Breast Augmentation Patient from San Diego, CA)

He goes above and beyond the "normal patient/doctor relationship and makes you feel comfortable for pre and post-op visits. His wife is his office manager and is the one who I did most of my communicating with prior to my arrival in San Diego and she is an absolute gem! She answered any and all of my questions in a very speedy manner and was extremely helpful at all times. The day of my surgery was great and I left the surgery center in NO pain what-so-ever. "I consider myself to be a modest woman, maybe even conservative. I might not seem like a typical candidate for breast augmentation, but it is something that I have wanted ever since I was a teenager. I always felt self-conscious about my breast size. During high school, I was an A cup. Later, I had three children and nursed each of them for twelve months. While I was nursing, I was able to experience what it would be like to have larger breasts. But by the time I finished nursing my last child, I became even more dissatisfied with my breasts, as now they were small, but also sagging! At this point, I wore a B cup, but I would not buy a bra unless it was heavily padded. Going to the beach was embarrassing and I often wore a large t-shirt over my swimsuit. This last summer, I was finally able to get down to within a few pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight. While I was excited with losing weight, I was disappointed to see that my breasts had also gotten smaller. It was the final deciding point for me. I called my sister and asked her for Doctor Pousti s number, as she had breast augmentation done several years earlier with Dr. Pousti and her results were fantastic. As soon as I hung up the phone with her, I called Dr. Pousti and scheduled a consultation a few days later. My next step was to go to his web site and check out the possibilities with the before and after pictures of real patients. When I went to my appointment, the office staff was so friendly and cheerful that I felt comfortable discussing my hopes and concerns with them. When I met with Dr. Pousti he was very reassuring and confident. Before I left, I scheduled my surgery. Living in the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley, I was very thankful that Dr. Pousti has an office in the Murrieta/Temecula area, so that I did not have to drive all the way to San Diego (even though I would have been willing to)! The surgery itself went well. The staff and the environment at the surgery center were also great. My recovery has been going well. I stayed home for six days after my surgery and returned to work (as a high school teacher) being careful about how much I moved my arms. I only took the heavy duty pain pills he prescribed during the first 4-5 days and then I switched to over-the-counter Motrin. I am thrilled with my results! Even though my husband has always been good about telling me how beautiful I am, now I can actually believe him. I finally have the confidence that has been lacking for a long time. I can't wait until my four-week check-up so that I can start wearing real bras in my new size (probably a D)!!! Thank you Dr. Pousti!" ~Site Visitor (Breast Augmentation Patient from Murrieta/Temecula, CA)

"I've wanted a breast augmentation ever since my breasts stopped developing at the age of 16. I went to a seminar Dr. Pousti had a couple years ago where previous patients came to speak about their experiences. However, I didn t seriously consider undergoing surgery until about 9 months ago. I researched the risks online, read about what to expect before, during & after surgery, read testimonials on Dr. Pousti's website and browsed the pictures. I liked what I saw and read so I scheduled my initial consultation. Dr. Pousti was always a gentleman and answered any questions I or my boyfriend had honestly. There was never any pressure to go a certain size or go with saline or silicone. I simply told Dr. Pousti what I wanted and provided him with photos, as a point of reference, to make sure we were on the same page. I am now 5 months post op and love my results. I wanted to look proportional and natural and that is exactly what Dr. Pousti helped me achieve. I feel more feminine & sexy, my clothes look better and shopping is certainly more fun both for me and my boyfriend. I went bra shopping for the first time after the surgery and was shocked that my cup size is as big as it is a 34D coming from a small 34A/B. I would recommend anyone who is considering a breast augmentation to Dr. Pousti and his very capable hands. He does not charge for his consultations so you can schedule an appointment to speak with him and his staff as many times as you need to. So, a sincere thank you to you Dr. Pousti and staff, for my wonderful new breasts and a continually pleasant experience." ~Email this breast augmentation patientSamantha (Breast Implant Patient from San Diego, CA)

Breast Augmentation Information

The procedure takes approximately two hours. Placement of the implant is usually centered on the nipple-areola. Often, placement above or below the muscle is decided on an individual basis. Likewise, the incisions used to place the implant vary with patient preference and anatomy. The surgery is performed in the office surgical suite under general anesthesia. The size and type of implant to be used, along with their relative advantages will be discussed with your doctor at the pre-operative appointment.
