Our
Plastic Surgeons:
Because
we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients;
we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board
of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both
body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic
Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon
has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least
five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and
two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must
also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in
plastic surgery.
There
are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small
percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have
personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact,
our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral
service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our surgeon directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in
order to remain in our surgeon directory.
About
Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeons. When considering any plastic surgery procedure of the body, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast surgery, you can be sure your doctor is qualified, trained and experienced in plastic surgery by looking for a plastic surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Behind
San Antonio, Texas Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Koneru
Dr.
Suresh Koneru is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has been in
private practice since 1996. He is fully trained in all aspects of
modern plastic and reconstructive surgery, including cosmetic surgery
of the face and body, breast surgery (including reconstruction, augmentation,
and reduction), suction-assisted lipectomy, body contouring and all
laser procedures. Additionally, his reconstructive experience includes
microsurgical techniques of the hand, repairing trauma, cancer and
congenital abnormalities.
A
native of San Antonio, Dr. Koneru attended Case Western Reserve University
(CWRU) in Cleveland after his graduation from Churchill High School.
At CWRU he earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He then
returned home to attend medical school at the UT Health Science Center.
Dr.
Koneru completed his internship and residency in General Surgery in
New Haven, Connecticut at the Hospital of St. Raphael, an affiliate
of Yale University. Following completion of this prestigious General
Surgery training, he returned to CWRU to pursue training in Plastic
Surgery under internationally recognized cosmetic, hand, and reconstructive
surgeons.
With
his strong engineering and computer background, Dr, Koneru brings
to San Antonio a unique approach to Plastic Surgery with special interests
in Cosmetic and Microsurgical techniques.
While
in training, Dr. Koneru was involved in many scientific research projects.
Many of these projects involved the application of innovative computer
and imaging technologies such as three-dimensional CT and shape scanning.
In 1994, he created the first educational Web site dedicated to Plastic
Surgery. In addition to his many research publications and presentations,
he has co-authored a textbook chapter in Essential Otolaryngology
edited by K.J. Lee.
Licensed
in Texas, Dr. Koneru is Board Certified in both Plastic Surgery and
General Surgery. He currently maintains an appointment as Clinical
Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science
