Our Plastic Surgeons:

Because we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients; we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in plastic surgery.

There are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact, our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our referral directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in order to remain in our surgeon directory.

About Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not true plastic surgeons and are not qualified or experienced in plastic surgery. To be sure you are seeing a "true" plastic surgeon for any body plastic surgery, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast enhancement implant augmentation choose an American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeon.

Prepare for Surgery Checklist

Prepare for Surgery Checklist

~ Patient Letter ~

It has been exactly three weeks since my breast augmentation surgery and I just wanted to take a moment to once again tell you how thrilled I am with the results. From the moment I walked into your clinic for the initial consultation through the surgery itself, the professional care and personal attention I received along with the exceptional medical treatment was truly outstanding! Even now as I continue with the follow-on visits, you and your entire staff continue to make me feel special and not just like another patient.

The decision to have breast augmentation surgery was not an easy one for me and was certainly not made in haste. I did extensive research and, to say the least, there is no shortage of information. I found articles and web sites that covered every aspect of the surgery itself, addressed every risk and possible complication, and talked in detail about the recovery process. Virtually everything I read painted a picture of a difficult and very painful process. They talked about drainage tubes for the incisions, days of bed rest, weeks of wearing surgical wraps, excessive swelling, extensive bruising, incredible soreness and serious pain. I must say, I walked into your office that first day with significant concerns regarding the impact this surgery would have on my job, my health and my quality of life!

To my amazement, I found your approach to breast augmentation challenged many of the so-called “facts” I had gathered through my research and is clearly unique among any of the plastic surgeons I investigated in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC area. You explained the differences between “fact” and “opinion” when it comes to augmentation surgery, answered all my questions and addressed each of my concerns. I was particularly impressed with the time and care you took to ensure my own desires and expectations regarding implant size were properly balanced against what was best suited to my body. Through it all, you never downplayed the seriousness of the procedure and addressed each possible risk and complication while, at the same time, reassuring me that your combination of proven medical techniques along with appositive and proactive approach following the surgery would minimize those risks and significantly enhance the recovery process.

The day of the surgery, I was still concerned and a bit worried about possible weeks of painful recovery. I had no reason to worry! I went home with no surgical wraps or ace bandages and with no requirement to take major narcotics or pain medication. My husband drove me home and I took the required two-hour nap (not a minute more!), did my hourly arm lifts, laid on my chest for 15 minutes and, sure enough, the very evening of my surgery, my husband took me out for a wonderful dinner! Over the course of the next week, I followed your special post-surgery checklist to the letter. There was some swelling and soreness, but it was hardly to the degree I expected and was easily controlled with medication as simple as Motrin. Your unique recovery program was simply amazing and everything you told me to expect was absolutely true! Now that the surgery is over and I am well on my way in the recovery process, I cannot begin to find the words to express how thrilled I am with the results. I went from an Almost A to a Full C and absolutely love how they look, how they make me look, how they feel and, most importantly, how they make me feel. Each time I look in the mirror I feel so good about my decision to have it done and my decision to have you do the surgery. I am a big believer in your approach and would be happy to discuss my personal experience with any of your patients considering this process.

Thank you again!
C.M.S.

Breast Augmentation

Having breast augmentation surgery is a personal choice. It involves a complex procedure that requires more than just selection of the incision location, implant shape, and position in relation to the pectoralis muscle.

Your free consultation with Dr. Desman (which usually lasts about an hour) will include a discussion of your goals and desires, a general exam, and a detailed evaluation of your breast tissue. You and Dr. Desman will then formulate a plan for your surgery, reconciling your desires and breast tissue characteristics.

Quick Healing

With the new surgical technique now used, the majority of patients are able to return to normal activity within 24 hours of surgery.* You will not need narcotic medications, drains, special bras, special pumps, or special bandages.

You will be able to lift your arms over your head, shower, drive a car, lay directly on your new breasts, and lift normal weight objects. In fact, you will be encouraged to go out to dinner the night of your surgery. Bra shopping the day after surgery - no problem!

Amazing Results

Amazing results like this are only achieved by combining comprehensive preoperative planning, meticulous revolutionary surgical technique, your participation in the recovery process, and a collaboration throughout the process between you, our staff, and Dr. Desman. Only as a team can you obtain the results you desire.

Before surgery, feel free to contact our patient referral network so you can speak with previous patients who have had the surgery you want. You can ask them anything on your mind. Talk to them about their results. Talk to them about their recovery. Talk to them about their experience with our office. We are confident you will not be disappointed.

Community Service

In addition to public education, Dr. Desman has a long-standing commitment to community service. The foundation of this community service is based on Dr. Desman's philosophy of helping young people who want to make positive changes in their lives.

On a local level, Dr. Desman works with youths in the Washington metropolitan area by removing gang-related tattoos. These young men and women have been away from the street-gang lifestyle for at least one year before being accepted for treatment. Dr. Desman's work in using lasers to remove tattoos helps them move toward a better future.

Additionally, Dr. Desman has an interest in working with victims of domestic violence, specifically young men and women who are striving to remove the physical evidence resulting from an abusive childhood.

On a more global level, Dr. Desman has traveled to the Dominican Republic to perform surgery on impoverished children with serious birth defects such as cleft lip and cleft palate. Without such dedication from physicians like Dr. Desman, these children would not receive the much-needed medical care every child deserves.
