Our Plastic Surgeons:

Because we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients; we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in plastic surgery.

There are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact, our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our surgeon directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in order to remain in our surgeon directory.

About Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeons. When considering any plastic surgery procedure of the body, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast surgery, you can be sure your doctor is qualified, trained and experienced in plastic surgery by looking for a plastic surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Dr. Davis is a graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, TN and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his general surgery training at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD and was certified by the American Board of Surgery. His plastic surgery residency was at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA. He has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1986. Dr. Davis served as assistant chief of Plastic Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center before entering private practice in Raleigh. He has led several overseas medical missions with Operation Smile and has been a leader in both local and national medical societies serving as President of the Raleigh Academy of Medicine, the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Council of State Plastic Surgery Societies. Dr. Davis has been recognized by Who's Who in Medicine and is listed in the exclusive Best Doctors in America. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has chaired several committees of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and has been recognized by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery with the Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Davis and his wife, Maryann, have resided in Raleigh since 1987. Their son, Christopher, is a student at Duke University.

Plastic Surgeon's Consultation:
The decision to have plastic surgery is not an easy one. Many questions arise and anxiety about the choice is natural. The consultation will take place in a relaxed private suite where you can feel free to ask any questions. You may bring your spouse, family member or friend if you wish. Dr. Davis will listen to your goals and desires and review your medical history. After a brief examination he will outline the options available to achieve your goals while explaining the procedure.

The pre-operative and post-operative course will be discussed as well as the benefits and potential risk of the procedure. Photographs of examples of Dr. Davis's patients can be reviewed. Literature covering what was discussed will be provided to assist with your decision.

After your visit with Dr. Davis, you will speak with the patient care coordinator who will go over payment options, financing and fees. You may also start the process of scheduling your surgery by reviewing available openings in the doctor's schedule.
