Our Plastic Surgeons:

Because we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients; we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in plastic surgery.

There are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact, our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our surgeon directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in order to remain in our surgeon directory.

About Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeons. When considering any plastic surgery procedure of the body, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast surgery, you can be sure your doctor is qualified, trained and experienced in plastic surgery by looking for a plastic surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). To learn more on how to research your surgeon, see our Research Your Surgeon page.

"Dr. Cummings and his staff are true professionals and friendlier than expected. Everyone I talked with was very informative and friendly. No question was out line and the answers were very candid and honest. My friend and I had surgery one month apart. This was my first surgery ever, so I had a tougher time than her. The recovery process is great and after my first shower that same day I felt a 100% better. As I kept moving, according to doctor's orders, I felt better and within four days I was back to a normal routine, lifting items and vacuuming. The problem I had was that my chest is wider than most women, so my breast look great and are nice for my frame. However, I have difficulty finding cute or sexy bras in my size. Something I never thought of before my surgery."~Tammy (Breast Augmentation Patient & Site Visitor)

"He has such a great personality he makes you comfortable from the start! That is important because people that go to a plastic surgeon are usually insecure to start. His staff are all super friendly and he treats you like a person and tells you what you need to know about your procedure in a very straight forward way. My sister had her lipo done, she was very pleased and now my other sister and cousin want to come down to NC just to see him because not only is his work excellent, he is pretty excellent himself! I can foresee my entire family making there way down here to see him."~Jessica (Breast Augmentation Patient & Site Visitor from Wilmington, NC)

"After reading a lot of your implant stories, I wanted to share mine with all of you, especially those who are considering the procedure but haven't had it done yet. I went to Dr. Cummings in Kinston, NC. I have Mentor smooth rounds, and am now a full D cup up from a small B. The main reason I want to share with you is my amazing recovery. Like everyone else, I woke up tight and uncomfortable. But unlike a lot of you, I was not in pain for very long. The afternoon after my surgery, I cleaned my cat box, took my garbage cans to the curb, and vacuumed my house. I was picking up my 35lb 4-year-old daughter 5 days after surgery. And I slept on my side when I got home from the clinic.

Dr. Cummings did not wrap or cover my breasts in any way. He had me go home, take a hot shower, and wash and style my hair. Vacuum, Iron, or anything else that required me to get my arms moving and stretching above my head and to the sides. Right after I woke up from the surgery, the nurses made me start stretching my arms above my head, and told me to do that all the way home in the car as well. He did not prescribe anything for pain except Naprosyn. I didn't need it anyway. Just like any other pulled muscle, the more I stretched them the better I felt. The worst part of the day was waking up in the morning after being still all night. I had a small (1 inch) incision under the breast, and my implants are under the muscle. My incisions were covered with steri-strips, and those came off by themselves shortly before my one-week follow up visit. I had no stitches that needed removed, as he used self-dissolving ones that were not visible. I never felt any pain at all from my incisions.

I am two months post-op, and I LOVE my breasts! My scars are already almost invisible. My right breast has completely dropped into place, and the left one is almost there. But by far the best part was how easy and almost pain-free the procedure was. I cringe when I see stories on MTV and such of girls who are in pain for days or weeks when it doesn't have to be that way. The worst part for me was the tightness that was there for a few weeks. But the pain was so minimal that people don't believe me when I tell them. I would advise all of you to speak to your surgeon about this concept. It follows that stretched out pectoral muscles should be treated like any other torn muscle. Hot showers, lots of movement and plenty of stretching. Who gives you painkillers and tells you to rest when you pull your hamstring? The best thing to do is stretch it out! You can read more about Dr. Cummings on his web site: www.cummingsplastic.com or you are all welcome to email me with questions!"~Shannon (Breast Augmentation Patient & Site Visitor from New Bern, NC)

"My surgeon was great, I was only at the clinic for 1 hour before heading home. At first I felt pretty bad, but that was due to the meds wearing off, after I got home and took a hot shower I felt so much better. I even walked down the street to a friends house and the neighbors that knew I had had the surgery couldn't believe that I felt that good."~Tina (Breast Augmentation Patient & Site Visitor)

"Very nice man,the staff is great, during my consult he advised he would only give my body the size implant that would look natural - like I was born with great breasts and not for people to look at me and say "oh, she has implants." I wish I could have gone bigger but I am only a month post op so maybe when everything settles I will be satisfied with the size. Now I can find great bras but my p/s told me to never wear a bra again." ~Felicia (Breast Augmentation Patient & Site Visitor)

"Great plastic surgeon! He is caring and cares about the health of the patient rather than just how big he can make the breasts. Cares about the risks of going too big all at once rather than trying to perform miracles, which can perhaps harm the patient rather than help her. Excellent Doctor! Very patient oriented and he CARES!" ~LaWanda (Breast Augmentation Patient & Site Visitor)
