Our Plastic Surgeons:

Because we educate mostly breast surgery, liposuction and tummy tuck patients, we require our plastic surgeons to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which qualifies the surgeon to perform both body and facial procedures. By choosing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon; patients are ensured the surgeon has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of residency (usually three years of general surgery and two years of plastic surgery). An ABPS certified plastic surgeon must also practice for two years and pass written and oral examinations in plastic surgery.

There are over 5000 ABPS certified plastic surgeons, and of them only a small percentage are invited to join our plastic surgeon directory. I have personally checked the qualifications of our member surgeons. In fact, our plastic surgeons meet higher standards than those of any other referral service as we only list select plastic surgeons to be in our surgeon directory. Our plastic surgeons must also maintain that standard in order to remain in our surgeon directory.

About Cosmetic Surgeons:
Some refer to plastic surgeons as cosmetic surgeons; however, a plastic surgeon is what you really want. Most doctors calling themselves "cosmetic surgeons" are not American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeons. When considering any plastic surgery procedure of the body, such as lipo, tummy tucks and breast surgery, you can be sure your doctor is qualified, trained and experienced in plastic surgery by looking for a plastic surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Meet White Plains, New York Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Blau

Dr. Blau specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face and body. The University of Tel-Aviv awarded Dr. Blau his Medical Degree in 1973. His internship and residency in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery were completed at Albert Einstein Medical School in New York. Dr. Blau instructed medical students in the anatomy labs of both Albert Einstein Medical College and the New York Medical College. 

Several times each year, Dr. Blau updates his training in courses given by top U.S. Universities (Harvard, UCLA and NYU) among others. He regularly attends seminars and conventions, in and out-of-state, for the purpose of continuing education. 

Most of the cosmetic procedures are done in Dr. Blau's surgical office-based facility in White Plains, N. Y. His staff of professionals (anesthesiologists and nurses) are fully accredited. 

Dr. Blau is affiliated with White Plains Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital (for the past 20 years) and other reputable, local hospitals.

Plastic Surgeon's Professional Experience

While in Medical School, at age twenty-four, Dr. Blau worked, as a nurse's assistant, and then as a registered nurse in a university hospital. This gave him a unique opportunity to experience first hand, and to understand the level of devotion and hard work of the nursing staff. In 1972 - 1973 Dr. Blau was very fortunate to work closely with a pioneer and one of the inventors of the modern medical laser, Professor Issac Kaplan, MD. He also was working with renovator of techniques in modern plastic surgery, Professor George Peled, MD.

Plastic Surgeon's Army Service

Dr. Blau served in the military as a Medic. Upon completion of medical school, he became a Medical Officer. At age twenty-seven, he was Commander of the Medical Surgical Unit in the Army Field Hospital. While serving, he had to make many life saving decisions, and most of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery had to be performed on the spot. When patients had to be transferred to the Army Medical Center for treatment, Dr. Blau remained involved as to their progress and followed their recovery.

Dr. Blau - The Artist

Dr. Blau is also known for his artistry in painting (including both oils and watercolors) and sculpting, a natural talent, well suited to his chosen profession. His collections were exhibited in San Francisco, New York and as far away as Europe. Some of his creations are on display in his office reception area for all to appreciate and enjoy. His artistic abilities earned him a lifetime membership at the Ruben Dario Cultural Institute in White Plains, N. Plastic Surgery of the Face and Body ~ Staff On staff is Dr. Joel Greenspan and his team of fully accredited Board Certified Anesthesiologists as well as university-trained, highly specialized, Registered Nurses.* It is in this office-based facility that most of the advanced procedures in cosmetic surgery are performed. Because of the broad range of techniques and procedures, Dr. Blau and his staff regularly attend meetings, conventions and exhibits to continually up date themselves in the field of Instrumentation.

Our Anesthesiologist ~ Dr. Joel Greenspan

Dr. Greenspan did his Anesthesia training at the University of California, San Diego, his fellowship training in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management at the Virginia Mason Clinic and University of Washington, respectively. He formerly was Chief of the Department of St. Agnes Hospital and also served as Chairman of the Medical Board as well as Medical Director of the hospital.  At that time, Dr. Greenspan and Dr. Blau began doing surgeries in Dr.Blau's office but usually in the afternoon after the hospital's operating room schedule. For the past six years, Dr. Greenspan has devoted himself to office Anesthesia.  Dr. Greenspan also specializes in the management of chronic pain.

Dr. Greenspan would like you to know that Dr. Blau's operating room has all the equipment necessary to give you a comfortable and safe surgical experience.

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations

Dr. Blau performs all surgery in the operating facility at his office in White Plains, which is fully-accredited by the Joint Committee on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The Joint Commission accredits nearly 80 percent of U.S. hospitals, including most of the major hospitals of the New York metropolitan area. Dr. Blau's decision to undergo such a rigorous and voluntary certification process is a mark of his commitment to cleanliness, quality and strict medical procedures. Our operating staff is comprised of registered nurses and board-certified anesthesiologists.
