MASSAGE COMMENTS: I began massaging approx. 1 month after the surgury. It was VERY painful when the plastic surgeon had to break the scar tissue, I thought I would nearly faint! and I know I have an above average tollerance for pain. Massaging is NOT comfortable and quite time consuming so I am sorry to say I am definately not massaging like I should. My plastic surgeon recommended 7 min., 7x day for 7months...needless to say that's not gonna happen with me.

plastic surgeon COMMENTS: My surgeon was very sweet but didn't explain things much. I suppose I should have asked things like why I have to massage, etc. He did have great recommendations for which implants I should have for my body shape/size, I am slender (pear shape) and have a pronounced waist so regular round implants would bulge out too much, he recommended the high profile because it's shape sticks out more than around.

CHANGE IN NIPPLE SENSATION: at four months now I have patches of numbness towards the incsion area up to the bottom of my nipple, the sensation feels as though you slept on your arm, and I wouldn't say it is painful but it causes some discomfort. It is more difficult for me to feel touch and temperature, but for the way they look it is almost bearable...... almost. I suppose I need more time to see if the feeling will ever come back, i'm sure it will, every now and then i feel sharp pains in my breast(nerves).
COMPLICATIONS: none at all.
PLASTIC SUGEON COMMENTS: he was very charasmatic, and was straight up with me, he was also the least expensive. Out of three plastic surgeons i chose him, yes it was a risk, but a good one i couldn't be any more pleased with the results, he made my breast look out of this world.

COMPLICATIONS: I was just in a lot of pain for the first week or so. I was really sore for a few weeks actually. I don't understand these people who had just "a little discomfort" because that was not at all my experience. But it was all worth it in the end.
PLASTIC SUGEON COMMENTS: Great expertise. As soon as he saw me he recommended that I get a bigger implant because I do have broader shoulders. That was what I wanted anyway and he was dead on with the size. He's a really nice guy and he gave us a great deal on them (because he's friends with my mother who's a physician as well.) He was liberal with the pain meds and sensitive to all of my needs. Plus he knows what he's doing. He's also very good looking, which doesn't hurt either. What stood out to me the most is that he sent one of his nurses from his office across the hospital to my room to check on me a few hours after the surgery. He was also in my hospital room the next morning at 5:00 on a Saturday to check on me personally.

COMPLICATIONS: the only issue im having with my new implants is there appears to be a big crease where the bottom of my breast used to touch my stomach. now, after surgery, you can see the bottom of the implant under the crease. the crease is not only visible but it can be felt also. my last consultation was in january 08 and i have to wait until july for my 1 year post op. i am starting to get worried as the creases dont seem to be evening out very well. i have been trying to research what these are called and what causes it but i dont even know what this complication, if it is, is called.

COMMENT: I have had some complications with my surgery so far. During my original surgery my pectoral muscle was very tight so the plastic surgeon had to yank my muscle down so that the implants would sit in a little better. Due to that I had to wear an ace bandage very tight above where my implants were for aprox. 3 weeks day and night. My breasts looked very deformed to me. I was not told that my nipples would still be pointing down I was under the impression that the implants would give an overall look of "lift". Instead my nipples were still pointing towards the ground but now my breasts were just larger and still very pointed looking. I went back to the plastic surgeon very concerned, he said some of the strange shape was due to scar tissue build-up, he gave me antibiotics and had me return in two months. When I came back he said at that point " I've seen worse." After a few more visits filled with concern he agreed that my implants were "riding high" and looked as if he should go in and cut pockets in the lower part of my breasts so they might drop into place he would also remove the scar tissue that was apparent while he was in there for a fee of$650.00. So that's where we stand now but can you believe I would do it all over again if I had to. We'll see how they turn out.

COMMENT: Make sure you have someone stay with you for at least the first 24 hrs. I was pretty groggy at times and needed someone to make sure I took my meds on time. It's really hard getting up out of bed by yourself even if your propped up on pillows so make sure you can do that before you are left alone. I could do it with some effort by the second day. Anything you have to reach up high should be placed at about waist level or a little higher. After about five days you should be able to get to things that are shoulder height. But stretch your arms as much as you can stand so they don't stay so tight. For the first 24 to 48 hrs try to stay propped in as close to a sitting position as you can comfortably manage. Use ice for that same time period to try to reduce swelling. Ask your Dr about the drug cancer patients are using to prevent nausea caused by chemo treatments. I think it's called Zofran. I know it starts with a Z. It did wonders for me. I've always had a history of severe nausea associated with anesthesia. It's been a little over three months since my surgery. I feel like I've always had my implants. It took about a month for me to be able to sleep on my side and not have to wear a bra 24 hrs a day. It was probably another two weeks before I could sleep on my stomach.The only thing I'm still waiting for is for them to drop. I chose the more natural "tear drop" shape and my plastic surgeon said it would take about 6 months for that to happen. I don't want it to be obvious that I have them. I don't regret this for one second and would do it all over again if I had too!!

COMPLICATIONS: YES - My left breast did not settle the same as my right. There was scar tissue at the point of incision blocking it from dropping into place - thus, not only was I crooked, but my nipples did not line up. They were about 2 inches off! I had a second surgery 10 mos. after my first surgery to remove scar tissue. This procedure was done in the office under local anesthesia at no cost to me ---not a pleasant experience. (My husband thought that I was crazy. He gave me the old speech that no woman's breast are exactly the same. But I couldn't see paying all of this money and being disappointed.) I had immediate results in that my breast did drop down, but I am still not sure that the alignment is what I had hoped for. Had the surgery 6 weeks ago and I am seeing improvement every day. My plastic surgeon assures me that I am on the road to perfection. They look perfect in clothes I might add - but I am hoping for the bathroom mirror after my morning shower to concur!
